Mystery Dahlia Cutting

Mystery Dahlia Cutting

Every once awhile, my labeling system goes array and I end up with a few orphan dahlias that aren’t marked.

These are all perfectly healthy plants, I just don’t know what they will grow into; however, they are all likely the same flower.

(Please note: The photos of the plants are not of the exact product. They are examples of what a dahlia cutting will look like.)

About Dahlia Cuttings

Dahlia cuttings are another way to propagate dahlias. If cared for correctly (fertile soil, regular watering and regular harvesting) throughout the growing season, they will produce a small tuber clump that can be overwintered or dug and divided for dahlias the following year.

All dahlia cuttings purchased from the West Seattle Flower Farm will have at least three sets of leaves and have ample roots (which will develop into the dahlia tubers over the course of the season.) They will be hardened off (meaning I slowly introduced them to outside from my grow room over the course of a week) and ready for planting in your garden.

After transplanting to your garden, please check on them daily for at least a week to ensure the transplant remains healthy and the soil remains moist around the base of the plant.

About pick up

Currently dahlia cuttings are only available for pick up at the West Seattle Flower Farm location in the Highland Park neighborhood of West Seattle. I do not ship cuttings.
