Cosmos are an easy-to-grow annual that thrives in late summer all the way into winter. Once they get going, they don’t mind a little cold. Cosmos produce a spray of airy blooms that add wonderful texture to a bouquet.
Cosmos benefit from being pinched when they are 8 to 12 inches tall. (This means cut the center stem when the plant has 3 to 4 sets of leaves.) Plant 9” to 12” apart.
Cosmos tend to thrive on neglect, so they are a great plant to put in the area of your garden that has the worst growing conditions. Water regularly.
Once cosmos start blooming, cut stems of flowers regularly or deadhead them to encourage the plant to continue to bloom throughout the fall. They will eventually die when the weather gets colder, but they tolerate 40 degree weather just fine.
Cosmos Fizzy Mix produces semi-double blooms with ruffled, quilled petals that curl inward at the edges.
Each purchase is for a pack of six small but mighty seedlings.
Please note: The photos of the plugs are not of this plant — they are included as an example of the overall size of the seedlings.
Also, due to seedlings needing to be transplanted within a narrow timeframe, the pick-up days are limited to a 10-day time period.
The seedlings will also likely need to be hardened off (slowly introduced to outside weather) for a few days before being planted in the garden.
